Die amerikanische Soulsängerin Loleatta Holloway ist tot. Laut ihrem Manager starb sie im Alter von 64 Jahren an einem Herzinfarkt. Ihre Disco-Hits "Love Sensation" und "Hit and Run" aus den 80er Jahren prägten die Disco-Szene. Sogar Whitney Houston griff für den Song "Million Dollar Baby" auf Loleatta Holloway zurück, genau wie Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch bei ihrem Hit "Good Vibrations".

Holloway startete ihre Karriere als Gospelsängerin und ersetzte 1967 sogar als Teenager die bekannte Sängerin Shirley Ceasar in der Band "The Caravans". Viele Künstler trauern um die Soul-Legende. So twitterte Boy George: "Gott möge deine Seele zu sich holen Loleatta Holloway, du warst die größte Stimme und ich liebte dich. Ruhe in Frieden
